Recipe: Blood-Pressure Friendly Spice Mix

If you have had a chance to read my recent blog post, "Salt: The Blood Pressure Enemy", you will know that you have to be very careful how much salt you are taking into your body....especially if you are trying to keep that blood pressure down!

So what do you do when you want to add a bit of "zing" to your meals if you can't grab a hold of that salt shaker? Try my spicy herb mix below and you will forget that the salt shaker ever existed...and your blood pressure will thank you for it :)


1 tbsp dried oregano 1 ½ tbsp dried basil 1 tbsp dried parsley

1 tbsp dried thyme ½ tbsp onion powder ½ tbsp garlic powder

1. Mix all ingredients and place in a sealed container.

2. Sprinkle on any meal where you would normally use salt. This is especially good with Italian-style dishes.

3. Serve & enjoy!

Tip: There is no limits to the amount or type of herbs you can use. Play around to find the perfect taste combination for each meal.
